CIFCFIN Public Presentation of Country Report 2023 on Public Procurement Fraud and Prevention
In its continuous effort to promote transparency and accountability in Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN) yesterday, January 9, 2025, presented its Country Report 2023 titled, “Public Procurement Fraud and Prevention" to the public.
It is customary for CIFCFIN to select highly topical and impactful topic for its annual Country report, addressing pressing issues of national importance. This report is no exception, offering valuable insights and recommendations on mitigating fraud in public procurement processes.
The public presentation, held in Abuja, was graced by distinguished dignitaries from various Agencies, including the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr. Dasuki I. Arabi; CIFCFIN’s Founder and Pioneer President, Dr. IB Gashinbaki; the VP 2 of the Institute, Prof Suleiman Aruwa who equally was the reviewer of the Report. Other Governing Council members in attendance were Dr Fatima Buhari and Registrar/CEO, Dr Isa Salifu.
Other notable attendees included representatives from key institutions such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMFAC), the Nat Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), the Police Service Commission (PSA), the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), JJTC Consulting LTD and more.
Reviewing the Report, the Editor-in-Chief/Chairman, Technical Committee and 2nd Vice President, Prof. SAS Aruwa, highlighted amongst others, critical findings and actionable strategies for preventing fraud in public procurement process.
