Becoming a Member of CIFCFIN
Membership Levels
Subject to the provision of the Act, a person who shall be admitted into the membership of the Institute shall be any:
qualified accountant practicing within or outside Nigeria who has shown sufficient evidence of his involvement and interest in There are three categories of membership of the CIFCFIN
an expert involved in forensic practice and fraud investigation with a recognized institution
person who has not been convicted of any crime within or outside Nigeria; and
person who, passes the qualifying examination for membership conducted by the Council under this Act and completes the practical training prescribed.

Membership Categories
There are 3 membership categories:
Associate
To become a member of the CIFCFIN, our entry-level strata of membership is the Associates Membership where an interested person undergoes the Associate training and induction to become an Associate member, and can legally bear the post-nominal assignation; ACCrFA (as an Associate Chartered Certified Forensic Accountant) or ACCFI (Associate Chartered Certified Fraud Investigator) suffixed to his/her name, depending on the area of specialization.
To qualify to be considered for Associate Membership, a person must;
possess a minimum qualification of B.Sc. or H.N.D. in relevant areas from recognized institutions
hold a degree, or professional qualification or is involved in forensic matters and the criminal justice system
have his/her application for admission into the Institute considered and approved by the Membership Committee, subject to ratification by the Council.

Certified
A person can become a Certified Member of the Institute in two ways; through Professional training or Direct Membership training;
To qualify to be considered for Certified Membership, a person must;
be an Associate of the Institute, or
have passed an Examination of the Institute;

Fellow
The Institute confers Fellowship of members who have been financially responsible and up-to-date in dues payment to the Institute for ten years and above. Once qualified, such a person shall be entitled to the FCCrFA as a Fellow Certified Chartered Forensic Accountant or FCCFI as a Fellow Certified Chartered Fraud Investigator respectively
To qualify to be considered for Fellow Membership, a person must;
Have been a member of the Institute for ten years and above,
Be a foundation member of the Council irrespective of the number of years the person has spent in the Institute, or
Be a deserving member on whom the Council considers to confer the award of Fellowship;

Honorary Fellow
The Institute reserves the right to routinely invite deserving and – ranking members of the Society to become Honorary Fellows at the Institute. The Institute does this on the recommendation of the Governing Council based on the contribution of the nominee to the practice of Forensic and Fraud Prevention.
